and it is all over… 5 months of rehearsals, meetings, planning and in 2 nights, it’s all over. The show was a huge success–we sold out complelety both nights (and had to turn a few away–SORRY!!!!!!!!!) We are so fortunate to have such a wonderful cast who performed fabulously, as well as a tech staff (okay, one person, Katie K) plus various volunteers to help us get it all together! We found a super-talented photographer name Dar, who is putting together a storyboard for the tech week and performances-he is amazing! We will post his info later..

What next, you may ask!?!? Planning for the next show…teaching at LaRabida…and most importantly, taking a breif breather to let our creative juices begin flowing again.

Thanks to everyone involved and to everyone who supported us :) Without you, we would be performing to an empty house with no applause :(

You give yourself almost 5 months to produce a show and it’s amazing that with one week to go there still seems to be about 8,000 issues that need to be handled. And after 4 months of rehearsal, you always think your piece could use a little more cleaning or you suddenly have a artistic break through and you decide that making your dancers clap and skip for 16 counts of 8 was in retrospect not the best of ideas. So you scramble around with 3 days before dress rehearsal trying to rearrange schedules so that you can fit in one, two, three more rehearsals. And then you end up with a 5 hour rehearsal on Saturday morning and the strong hankerin’ for a very large scotch.

did someone say crunch time?

I agree with Ms. Barreca about 250% percent. I too have broken down…not in Starbucks, but in a hotel in the suburbs…what might I be doing there? attending a friend’s wedding in between work, rehearsal, school and my field placement. One might say I have have too much on my plate. I say bring me SECONDS! Well, maybe not…it is a crapload of work and added stressors. My suggestions? Drink sangria. Or take yoga. As much as this is a bunch of work, and yes my personal and social life have taken the biggest hits…I am super super excited. SO-tell your friends, tell your enemies–the best place to be on July 27th and July 28th is the LIFELINE THEATRE (6912 N. Glenwood) at 8pm, watching one of the most spectacular dance shows to hit Chicago in the 21st Century…heck, in all of time :)

Want to have a breakdown? Produce a Dance Concert.

So. It has been about a month since the last post.
That is most likly because this SHIT IS HARD…
We are very sleepy….

Between emptying our pockets for daily rehearsal space and dancers dropping out last minute(more on that later—that deserves it’s own blog) -Putting up a concert is nuts.
However- We will let you decide for yourselves…

You SHOULD totally put up a dance show if…

If you are looking for a way to go broke.
If you never want to see family or friends again.
If you don’t want to be able to sleep due to random panic attacks.
If you enjoy having 3 hour conversations about the COLOR or your dancers costumes.(”The choices are brick red or brickish red- lets make a list of pros and cons”)
If you enjoy dealing with drama queens, divas, flakes, and idiots.
If you want to cry randomly at a Starbucks- becuase your paitience has been tried to the limit and the Fucking hipster barista just made your venti non-fat Chai tea latte with whole milk instead of skim!!!!!!!!

Basically

If you are thinking of putting up a show yourself— my suggestion is DON’T…
