Less than 3 months to go!

I woke up with the realization that in 3 months the concert will be OVER.  Instead of blogging at 9:00 in the morning, I will probably be enjoying the beautiful summer weather and not worrying about if my piece will be finished. 

Update on status of pieces—Trio is coming along quite nicely.  I have to do a mini-showing of it on Wednesday, therefore am slightly in panic mode….”Bound” or what is the New Bound…is pretty much finished-and it looks beautiful! And we finally have a musician / mandolin player to tie it all together–hurrah!

I am slowly realizing that I don’t have much to blog about today……..until next time.

Monday Morning Tally

So it’s Monday and here is the Tally!
1 beat up face due to stupid curtain hanging incident….CHECK
1 popped blood vessel in eye due to rouge jump rope accident…. CHECK
1 super sore throat and achy body due to sickness and lack of sleep….CHECK
1 cup of tea with gobs of honey….CHECK
1 packet of saltine crackers to combat this mornings bout with nausea….CHECK
1 Drug addict sister….CHECK
1 upset family….CHECK
1 Dance show that needs to be pulled together….CHECK
1 new cupid show that is going up May 4^th!….CHECK
1 temp job that sucks…..CHECK               
1 sinking ship of an office that is currently in a meeting (with the doors OPEN!- so Carisa can hear everything) to be told that this branch is closing and the company is being sold to another company…..CHECK!
1 very upset office…..CHECK
1 Carisa watching the sinking titanic of an office safe aboard her lifeboat- The SS TEMPJOB!….CHECK!
1 breakfast buffet in the break room to combat severe sadness in soon to be laid off employees…
Because Nothing stops the suicidal tendencies of an entire office being laid off like a warmer full of sausage patties……..CHECK!
1 free breakfast for the sick and tired Carisa Anne Barreca….CHECK
Ok…so that is the check list for Monday at 9:00am!

pieces are coming along…

 Carisa and I had a great time on Wednesday teaching our Open House Dancers  how to dance with a whistle.  It is amazing how much that noise can grate on your nerves after a two-hour rehearsal. Next on the plate-JUMP ROPES! and we can say this from experience….it doesn’t hurt that badly.  It really only hurts if it hits you in the face or the eye.

Bound (new title yet to be determined) is going well-we found a mandolinist/guitarist so Rachel and Mike have SOUND! Hurrah!!!! That piece is set and ready to go. and SO beautiful…you will cry when you see it. And possibly throw things on the stage-roses, chocolates, handkerchiefs etc.   I keep wondering why Carisa and I have insisted on doing it so many times. It is such great dynamic with a guy and a girl!  we are at 3 months and COUNTING>>>

Fundraiser set!

Welcome to MDC’s blog!!! I am here to promo our FABULOUS fundraiser….after a few minor issues–we have set the date & place Hurrah! On May 25, 2007, if you are looking for something fun or would love to come out and support us in our journey towards our first show, Jump Start!, then you should go to the Lincoln Tap Room (Chicago) from 8-11pm.  $30 = snacks, drinks (beer, wine, soda & mixed) and a great time! There will also be a raffle with super awesome prizes including spa & golf packages, theatre tix, and restaurant gift certificates…Hope to see you there!

And We’re Off…

With an amazing turn out at auditions and a tough casting process behind us- we are off and running with our first week of rehearsals!!!

Gail and I had a successful first rehearsal for our duet. Mike and Rachel dance beautifully together and I am so excited to have such a beautiful piece in the show.

Gail and I are also choreographing for OPEN HOUSE DANCE COMPANY.
Their show is at the end of June. The exciting thing about OHD is that the dancers/movers* get to pick the choreographers and not visa-versa!!! Anyone can audition! ANYONE!!!!! Who get professional dancers teamed up with the people in the community! It is VERY FUN-TASTIC!
Gail and I got lucky– we got VERY lucky and we got TWENTY FANTASTIC DANCERS!
What the dancers don’t know (um…unless they are reading this Blog) is that we are going to ask a few of them to perform this piece at the Matter Dance Show in July!

Ok… well… 2 rehearsals down… sooo many to go!
And i already ache…. hehe…
